I have horrible news to report - a gunman killed 26 people, 20 of them children between the ages of 5 and 10, in a shooting this morning - Friday, December 14, 2012. He entered the elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, where his mother worked, shot her and then 20 of her students. He also shot himself and 5 other adults in the school.
This shooting is among the the worst in US history.
As President Obama has told us, the majority of those who died were children, between the ages of 5 and 10. They had their entire lives ahead of them: birthdays, graduations, marriage and children of their own. But that has all been taken away.
This happened while I was in school today, and we were on lock-down, hoping for more information the entire time. There were other young children in the building who experienced possibly the most terrifying thing that will ever happen to them. They have seen some of their friends and classmates get shot and pass away - something that will never leave them. I was an hour away from where this happened - and now I’m an hour away from where 27 parents are going without their children tonight.
I’m asking you to please reblog this; send your love to these families and keep them in your prayers.
They need all the love and support they can get.
